Thai Yoga Massage, a holistic balance of mind and body

Thai yoga massage is a unique and powerful healing art that has been an integral part of traditional Thai medicine for thousands of years.  It is a holistic therapy in which the human being is seen as an ever-changing network of physical, mental and emotional aspects that interact with each other to create a state of balance.
This unique, transformative healing system is growing in popularity in the western world. While it is often not understood by traditional medical practitioners it is effective where they can not be.

How does it work?

Using dynamic bodywork the practitioner guides the client through a series of yoga postures while palming and thumbing along energy lines and pressure points. Together these actions result in a highly effective treatment that can help improve the flow of vital energy and so help to improve the immune system.
Physical benefits include improvements in posture, flexibility, digestion, circulation, muscular tension, headaches, emotional and nervous tension, joint flexibility, relaxation and energy levels.  These, in turn, lead to a wealth of benefits to the emotions and psyche.

Energy and emotion

Energy can be reduced by everyday life experiences which we often describe in physical terms: for example, we might say that we feel “sick and tired” of a particular situation; we may have a “gut feeling” that things are going wrong; we may say someone is a “pain in the neck” or become “heartbroken” over a sad event.  Physical problems resulting from the emotional impact of such experiences include bad posture, headaches, tiredness, and indigestion.  Mentally they lead to a negative outlook on life which impacts on our creativity, our success and so fundamental to our happiness.
In Eastern medicine, many therapies focus on releasing this underlying energy. Acupuncture, shiatsu, Tai Chi and yoga all work with this energy; in India, they call it Prana, in Korea, it is called Ki and in China, Chi.  All have the same meaning: the energy that is the “vital source of life.”
Thai yoga uses the physical body as a vehicle or tool to reach the emotional and psychic states that so influence our lives. It will help you to reach your potential both physically and mentally, renewing your energy, freeing your mind and leading to greater fulfilment and contentment.
